Cupping

Cupping is a traditional method of relieving localized pain and muscular tension through the placement of glass, ceramic or plastic cups on the skin. The practitioner creates a vacuum seal between the patient and the cup, which generates a suction force. This suction acts to drive blood flow in the affected area, break up micro-vascular stagnation so the body can restore proper circulation, as well as providing a localized, focused deep tissue massage.
Cupping can commonly leave a mark that may last several days up to a week+. This mark is more like a hickey than a bruise, and represents the breakdown of stagnant micro-vascular networks in the affected area. The body then rebuilds these pathways, allowing for an increase in circulation and an improvement in the body's ability to clean cellular debris. This mark only appears in areas where micro-vascular stagnation is present; otherwise the signs of cupping should fade in a matter of hours or by the next day.

Cupping is good for a wide-range of conditions, especially musculo-skeletal tension and pain. It is remarkably effective in reducing and relieving shoulder, upper-back, thoracic and lumbar pain. Results should be immediate, and regular use can be provide lasting benefits in pain resolution and management.
